Splice
Every level, you pick two of your abilities and breed them.
The child inherits from both parents—how it deals damage, what it does on hit, and when it fires—then mutates. A bolt crossed with an aura becomes a projectile that also burns everything standing near you. A beam crossed with a swarm sends seekers down a piercing line. Ten generations in, you're using something you grew rather than something you picked from a list.
The swarm is breeding too. Lean on one damage type and enemies gradually build resistance to it, so the loadout that carried you through minute three is the one that fails at minute six. There's no correct build—only one that's currently working.
Abilities fire automatically. You move, you dodge, and you decide what breeds with what.
Controls
• Move — drag anywhere, or WASD / arrow keys
• Pause — P
• Zoom — pinch, or mouse wheel
Some abilities only fire under specific conditions: while you're standing still, while you're wounded, or when an enemy attack narrowly misses. The ability bar shows which condition is currently preventing each one from firing.

Every sprite, sound effect, and note of music is generated by scripts in the repository—no third-party assets. The creatures are metaball fields with directional shading, the music is synthesized from sine and triangle waves, and the ability sigils are drawn directly from each genome, so offspring visibly inherit their parents' shapes.
